as I have loved you, you also should love one another

I give you a new commandment.....as I have loved you, you also should love one another.
John 13:34

WE WELCOME ALL VISITORS AND SEEKERS OF GOD.
**************
ALL BAPTIZED CHRISTIANS ARE INVITED TO RECEIVE THE HOLY COMMUNION.

LORD, LET US PRAY AND WORK TO HEAR YOUR WORD, CHANGE OUR HEARTS
AND GO FORTH TO DO YOUR WILL, EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

Dear Friends, April 26, 2010

Yesterday was the fourth Sunday of the Easter Season - Good Shepherd Sunday. If you weren't present and if you love the 23rd Psalm, you missed another great sermon, full of insights. Jesus was not the Good Shepherd so we wouldn't need to help others, he was the Good Shepherd to show us how!

Please keep in your prayers those in need of healing, and all who serve in our military forces. Please pray that we may have a successful rector search. Kindly also pray for the Wardens and their work in this time of search.

Last Call...Michel Bouvard, Professor of Organ at the Paris Conservatoire, will perform an All-French organ recital Friday, April 30th, 8:00 p.m., at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park. Tickets at the door: $10 adult, $5 student - cash or check. Fine player, fine instrument in our own neighborhood.

Last, last call..The Chicken & Biscuit Dinner is next Saturday, May 1. Call Pat Frasca at 615-6790. Tickets are a bargain at $8.00, $4.00 for children - any under 6 are free. Come and see...

Last, last, last call...The CROP Walk is next Sunday, May 2nd. If you would like to participate or contribute, please see or call Jan Wills. 621-3900

Please visit or call a friend who is not able to get out or whom you've been meaning to call. There are many who would love a call and an invitation to church or an inquiry as to when you might pay a visit.

Tuesday and Thursday Bible Study are in the Library at 9 AM. Please 'Come and See'. In this season of Easter, the lessons confirm the unity of the Father and the Son, the glory of Jesus and what we are to do as his disciples. There is food for thought and often refreshments to share. The study is of the Gospel Lesson for next Sunday, found below. If we wish to share our love of God, we need to know the stories of the Bible. Here is a good way to begin.

A congregation first grows individually in the heart of each faithful person, and only then it can spread. If we want to grow, we must love God, love our friends and then speak to them. God will help us share the Bread of Life.....We never know how ready a friend may be to hear a word of encouragement in faith.

Do you have a pocket card to hand to a friend who asks about Ascension? Cards are available in the back of the church. Please take a few, and be ready to share. We have pocket crosses to hand to those who answer the call to "Come and See"..

In the next day or two, Paul Schwartz will post this e-letter on our blogspot. http://ascensionroch.blogspot.com/

If you have a new or better email address for yourself, or know someone who might like to receive this weekly e-letter, please email me that information.

Blessings,

Gospel for Sunday - John 13:31-35
13:31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.

13:32 If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once.

13:33 Little children, I am with you only a little longer. You will look for me; and as I said to the Jews so now I say to you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.'

13:34 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

13:35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
